CuspAI Raises $100M+ Series A to Revolutionize Materials Discovery with AI

CuspAI just closed a massive $100M+ Series A co-led by NEA and Temasek, with participation from NVIDIA, Samsung Ventures, and Hyundai Motor Group.

The company is building an AI platform for materials discovery — essentially a search engine that lets customers specify the properties they need and generates synthesizable candidates up to 10x faster than traditional methods. Applications span semiconductors, carbon capture, battery tech, and water purification (including PFAS removal).

What stands out: they've gone from stealth to active partnerships with Hyundai, Kemira, and Meta in just one year. Their advisory bench is equally impressive — Geoffrey Hinton, Yann LeCun, and new board additions Martin van den Brink (former ASML CTO) and Lord Browne (former BP CEO).

Materials bottlenecks are everywhere right now with energy, compute, climate. CuspAI is betting AI can compress decades of discovery into months. This raise says the market agrees.

Congrats to co-founders Max Welling and Chad Edwards and the whole team.
